As a kid growing up in the 80s and 90s, I knew of a handful of Bruce Springsteen songs. The radio hits mostly. It wasn't until college that I was introduced to his sparse and stripped-down album, 'Nebraska' (1982). Of all the Springsteen albums that have passed through my hands, 'Nebraska' remains closest to my heart.
So in the spirit of that album, I recorded a stripped-down version Springsteen's 1984 offering, "I'm on Fire," in my Chicago apartment earlier this year. Kept my first vocal take, added some bass, hit the tambourine on the twos-and-fours, and the final result is a recording I'm excited to share with you! Add it to any/every playlist you'd like.
